The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday affects City of Paducah services.
- City Hall located at 300 South 5th Street and other city offices will be closed Monday, January 15.
- The Public Works Department will not collect curbside recycling on Monday. Those who have their recycling containers collected on the third Monday of the month will have collection on Tuesday, January 16.
- The garbage collection schedule for the week of January 16-19 will not change.
- The Compost Facility located at 1560 North 8th Street is closed Monday for the holiday.
The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March to the Monument and Luncheon organized by the Paducah/McCracken County Chapter of the NAACP will be Monday, January 15. For the March to the Monument, attendees should meet in the parking lot of NY Lounge (2714 Park Avenue) at 9 a.m. and walk in the median to the monument which is located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near North 19th Street. Local leaders will place a memorial wreath at the monument and hold a brief ceremony. There will be a police escort.
Following the march is a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at Paducah Tilghman High School (tickets are required). The keynote speaker is Charles Booker who served in the Kentucky House of Representatives. For ticket information, visit the Paducah/McCracken County NAACP website.
