Ponderings from Paducah - City Government Month
October is City Government Month in Kentucky—a time to recognize and celebrate the vital role city government plays in our daily lives.
Here in Paducah, the city provides a wide range of essential services, made possible by the dedication of our skilled and committed team. Our employees care deeply about this community and work to enhance the quality of life for all residents.
Guided by the Commission Priorities, we’ve implemented several service improvements this year to better serve our community—with even more on the way in the months ahead. Below are some of the highlights from this year’s work.
- Enhanced our digital presence to streamline your interactions with the City of Paducah including upgrades to the permitting portal and the launch of My Paducah, a new and easier to use app for city service requests through the platform SeeClickFix. Visit MyPaducah to learn more.
- Simplified the brush pickup and curbside recycling collection processes in the Solid Waste Division with changes to bulk item collection coming soon.
- Enjoy new seasonal decorations for historic downtown Paducah. Get ready to take pictures!
- Designed a Tree Voucher Program to restore Paducah’s tree canopy for generations to come.
- Listened to public feedback on expanding the Greenway Trail with the project now in the design phase.
- Worked with the community to create a community garden for the Southside.
- Approved the Southside Neighborhood Revitalization Plan.
- Continued to support a Deflection Team in the Police Department to link people with resources.
- Worked through a 911 enhancement project with the County to improve response when you may need it most.
- Transitioned Paducah Main Street to an independent agency with an office on Broadway.
I want to thank the Mayor and City Commissioners for their vision for Paducah, the community for their support, input, and feedback on projects, and the city employees for their dedication to public service. I look forward to seeing this list of projects continue to grow.
