Beginning Monday, October 3, a section of Pines Road will be closed to traffic for the replacement of two drainage culverts. The metal culverts crossing under Pines Road near the intersection with Whitney Drive have deteriorated. The contractor working for the City of Paducah, Jim Smith Contracting, will replace the culverts with concrete culverts and headwalls.
To complete the work, crews will close both lanes of Pines Road between Friedman Lane and Buckner Lane to through traffic. However, crews will work with the Pines Road residents who live within the repair area to provide detours and access to their homes.
The work to replace the deteriorated pipes that are in danger of collapsing is expected to take one week or less, weather permitting. Please use caution, watch for the work crews, and respect the traffic control devices.
The City of Paducah maintains more than 220 miles of streets. For more information including the proposed road rehabilitation plan through 2023, visit Streets.
